RSF Blamed After Damazin Drone Strike Kills Four Women

Four women were killed in drone strikes on Ed Damazin, the capital of Sudan’s Blue Nile state, as the country’s war pushed deeper into civilian areas far from its best-known front lines.
Radio Dabanga reported that strikes hit the El Hijra neighborhood as well as civilian infrastructure including a mosque and Ed Damazin Technical College. Local authorities said dozens of people were wounded, while the home of the state finance minister was also struck.
Officials and the Blue Nile Civil Society Initiative blamed the Rapid Support Forces and the allied Sudan People’s Liberation Movement for the attacks. The RSF had not immediately issued a public response to the allegations at the time of reporting.
The damage to homes, a mosque and an educational institution underscores the widening civilian cost of fighting in Blue Nile. The state has become another arena in the struggle among the Sudanese Armed Forces, the RSF and armed movements as front lines shift across the country.
Sudan’s war has already produced one of the world’s largest displacement and humanitarian crises. The Ed Damazin attack is a reminder that the conflict’s geography is expanding even as international attention remains concentrated on Darfur, Khartoum and Kordofan.
