TAJO: A Bigger Slice

Don Buitre, a suited vulture, holds a huge magnifying glass that makes Beto the beaver worker’s tiny cake slice look enormous. Beside the vulture sits almost the entire cake. Beto looks unimpressed as Don Buitre says, “LOOK HOW BIG IT IS!”

The enlargement is included.

On November 5, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that nonfarm business labor productivity rose at a 3.6% annualized rate in the third quarter of 2026, while hourly compensation rose 2.9%. Both increased; inflation-adjusted hourly compensation rose 1.1%. These preliminary, seasonally adjusted figures describe the sector as a whole.

In the Paper Republic, Don Buitre brings his own way to make a worker’s portion look generous. The cake is an exaggerated joke about distribution and presentation, not a diagram of those statistics.

TAJO / Pamphlets. Original fictional editorial satire, November 5, 2026.
