Why “lesser evilism” will start (and has started) the long awaited fall of the American empire

When the “lesser evil” are still pretty damn evil, the world will eventually turn on you.

On November 5th 2024, the Democratic party lost yet another battle to Donald Trump, making the mistake of choosing a highly incompetent and unpopular candidate for their ticket. You would think that since this was the “most important election in the recent history of the US” and that “democracy was at stake”, the Democrats would get their most powerful, most popular members as candidates. But they chose Kamala Harris, someone who was polling at around 6% in 2019. “We did it Joe. We lost the election”.

Some would argue that Harris lost the election due to her focus on identity politics, which couldn’t be further from the case. Admittedly, her campaign didn’t focus on her background as a woman of color, in fact they didn’t focus on anything at all. Honestly, I don’t remember anything from her campaign other than that time in the DNC when she promised that the US would have the most lethal army in the world. Ladies and gentlemen, everything in between, the “progressives” of the world’s greatest country! So how was Kamala Harris, the zionist, strict border advocate, who abandoned queer people and medicare for all in an attempt to attract people from further on the right, even the “lesser evil” choice? The better question here would be: Was there ever a lesser evil choice to begin with? And what exactly would that entail?

Barack Obama is considered one of the most charismatic progressive presidents the US has elected, and that’s definitely for a reason. Hearing him speak at the DNC almost made me forget about the time he bombed a Trauma Center in Afghanistan run by the Doctors Without Borders in 2015. To be fair, he did apologize within a week and offered to pay $6000 to the victims’ families. Obama Issues Rare Apology Over Bombing of Doctors Without Borders Hospital in Afghanistan a New York Times headline reads, but you would probably think it’s an article from The Onion. Despite his incredible charisma though, I'll never forget the fact that the CIA launched a fake hepatitis vaccine campaign in Pakistan to collect DNA samples they could compare to that of Osama Bin Laden’s sister in 2009. This is so comically evil that people genuinely don’t believe it when I tell them, but it triggered a horrific domino effect, eventually resulting in the Pakistani people constantly suspecting medical personnel as possible spies increasing violence against them and in 2014 Pakistan had the most polio cases in the world by far. Scoreboard; Doctors Without Borders/ public health in countries ruined by American imperialism and Obama 0-2. Keep in mind this person has won a Nobel Peace Prize. Tell that to the children who died of polio because of him.

Truly, the US is suffering from nothing other than a God complex. Their supposed superiority gives them the illusion of reasoning behind their wars and attacks in the Middle East, constantly wanting to act as saviors for the rest of the world. Even the thought of people justifying these actions in their heads because “in the Middle East women don’t have rights” and “you would be stoned to death if you were queer and out” is insane and ridiculous. The American imperialist war machine doesn’t leave behind a place with better conditions and improved human rights for women and queer people to enjoy, but destroys hospitals and schools that once stood still. Even if their reasonings for their attacks added up, for example low literacy rates for women –which is absolutely not the case in countries like Iran anymore–, in reality they would be responsible for them.

A few months ago, A24 released their latest movie “Warfare”, which is supposed to narrate the actual story of the Iraq war, told by the Navy SEALs that fought there. Karl Marx once said, capitalism doesn’t only make a product for the individual, but also an individual for the product. In other words, did anyone really need another propaganda war movie about the “heroic” acts of the American troops and how killing innocent kids, women and men was actually justified? Not as far as I’m concerned, but A24 has us covered. Specifically regarding the Iraq war, there was no draft.--It should be noted that while there was no official draft, I understand economic conscription via poverty was a factor. Everyone that fought in that war sold their body and soul to the USA in exchange for horrible pay and no aftercare. If the US government themselves doesn’t care about veterans getting PTSD, then who will? Donald Trump, living in his blissful world of ignorance, ended DEI programs in an attempt to only discriminate against women and POC, but he might not have realised that DEI also helped veterans in getting and keeping jobs. Or maybe he did know but didn’t care. There’s honestly no way to actually know.

So, if the US keeps breaking the International Law, the Geneva Convention (Kunduz hospital airstrike), the Chemical Weapons Convention (deploying chlorine with barrel bombs in Syria ) etc. then why do these laws even exist? Ironically enough, the International Law was written by the very same countries who have the ability to and do violate it constantly in the name of “Counterterrorism”. Iran has been 2 weeks away from developing nukes for 20 years now according to the US, just like China’s economy is a month away from collapsing according to right wing sloptubers. What terrorism is the US countering exactly, and is that terrorism just a response to their endless exploitation of the countries they are now attacking? This seems like an endless rolling stone.

And we’re back to the utopian USA, where voters have to pick between two war criminals, but one is a queer ally. And even that is questionable. On March 21st 2025, NewsWire headline reads Democrats discuss accepting differing views on transgender rights to avoid alienating voters according to NOTUS. But let’s say that the Democrats will actually unconditionally support queer people if elected and ignore everything that tells us otherwise. Is it at all ethical or even sustainable for a party to weaponize queer allyship to such a degree? Because weaponization is exactly the word that describes what the Democratic party has been doing for the last decade and a half. “Lesser evilism” sustains itself through voter suppression, making people vote out of fear rather than with pride and certainty. 2024 should have been the year the Democrats chased the largest political group in the US, the 42% non voters. But this election saw a record-low turnout, since people were only demoralized by the lesser evilism. The US allows and encourages government corruption with insider trading in Congress and by keeping the legal loophole of bribing politicians through Super PACs. Both parties serve capital, with Biden bailing out to Silicon Valley and Trump giving trillion-dollar tax cuts to billionaires.

The tide is slowly shifting, and the most recent election made it evident. The Republicans won with ease, even with their horrible choice of JD Vance as the VP pick and their near fascist use of language. Lucky for the rest of the world, Trump is speeding up the process of the fall of the US with the dollar hegemony weakening and BRICS expanding, meaning more countries are trading in local currencies, bypassing the dollar. With sanctions backfiring, Russia and China developed SWIFT alternatives (SPFS, CIPS), even Saudi Arabia now accepts yuan for oil. The US is entirely dependent on dollar hegemony– printing money to fund wars, sanctions and debt. If the USD loses its dominance, the US will no longer be able to export inflation. With the dominance of the dollar in world trade ending, so is American power.

The Third World War is already happening, and it is economic. For the longest period of it, the US has been able to terrorize the world into submission with two weapons; sanctions and bombs. Now, both are failing. After Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, the US and EU imposed the harshest sanctions in modern history. But, instead of breaking Russia, they broke Western dominance. Russia’s economy grew in 2023 while Germany’s sank. Russia pivoted to China and India for trade and stabilized their currency and at the end united BRICS to avoid the US’s financial warfare. In Yemen, they were humiliated by the Houthis, who shut down 12% of global trade armed with 200$ drones. While China is leading in technological advancements, with BYD overtaking Tesla in annual sales and Deepseek exposing OpenAI, offering lower prices and better for the environment services, Trump tries to convince his citizens they’ll get tired of winning.

The US can’t even win wars anymore. 2 trillion dollars and 20 years spent on Afghanistan just for the Taliban to win, over 100 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine but Russia now controls 20% of Ukraine and despite global outrage, they continue to fund the genocide in Gaza. This makes the US Army the most expensive in the world, with no major wars won since 1945.

The country once known as “the land of the free and brave” is now globally synonymous to humiliation, illiterate Presidents, incompetence, mass shootings, police brutality and student debt. The American dream is now obsolete and it has been sold with no way to be returned to the citizens. In the words of Lenin, there are decades where nothing happens and there are weeks where decades happen. For the USA, it’s inevitable that those weeks arrive, and their way of voting is to blame.
